The Islanders suffered a tough loss at the Hands of the Ottawa Senators last night, 6-4. The Islanders were out to prove they werent a doormat, as TSN has called them, but could not get their act together for last night.
The Senators Scored 32 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 early on. Trevor Gillies would tie it up seven minutes later after Konopka bounced one off Gillies stick in front of the net. However the lead would vanish quickly as Jesse Winchester beat goalie Kevin Poulin to put the Senators back on top.
From there teh Senators ran away with the game, they would score four more goals in the second period. Blake Comeau would score the lone Islander second period goal, while Jurcina and Parenteau would score one each in the third to make the final 6-4.
By the looks on their faces after the game last night, this loss stung alot. The team wanted to continue their good fortune and show the league what they can do. Instead they were beaten bad by a struggling Senators squad.
